    The Department of Industrial Design aims to cultivate designers as competent planners who combine communication skills and professional abilities and who can play a major role across global industrial activities. Specifically, the Department sets an educational goal to train designers who are able to plan and construct a platform, a macroscopic perspective on a single culture that is developed based on the traditional design process education, which builds the functions and forms of industrial products. The Department has innovated the curriculum system and training programs to meet these needs.

    To nurture designers as a producer beyond the industry-leading design practitioners, the Department has created a curriculum system that enables students to experience various design issues from the total design perspective and to understand other fields. Thus, the educational goal at the Department is to train design producers who have comprehensive thinking and problem-solving skills to discover and solve tangible and intangible problems in the society while working in design firms as well as leading start-ups.

  • Curriculum

    Kookmin University Department of Industrial Design aims to cultivate ‘practical abilities,’ ‘macroscopic insights,’ and ‘creative planning ability’ to train designers based on comprehensive thinking. The practical design training in various fields and the leading technology convergence education nurture the expression ability required as the basic ability of a designer and promote a convergent ability to understand and solve problems through a comprehensive approach including science, engineering, marketing or other fields. The curriculum is largely divided into technology-oriented design such as product / transportation system / medical design, and human-oriented design such as environment / game / farm / food design.
