A PhD student from the Bio-Medical Device Research Laboratory at Kookmin University (advisor: Professor Kim Jung-kyung) won the Outstanding Presentation Award at the 2025 Korean Society of Automotive Engineers Spring Academic Conference held from May 21 to 24 at Jeju Shinhwa World. The student presented a paper titled “Analysis of Occupant Biometric Signals for Personalized Thermal Comfort Control in Electric Vehicles.” Among the 542 poster presentations at the conference, 15 were selected for awards, and Gine City was the only international recipient among the 12 winners in the general category.

The Bio-Medical Device Research Laboratory at Kookmin University conducts basic research on bio-fluid and bio-energy interactions. Recently, the laboratory has been developing technologies for analyzing and evaluating passenger thermal comfort in future mobility applications such as electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles, and drone taxis. This is achieved by integrating biomedical engineering with environmental ergonomics, leveraging an understanding of human-environment interactions, and utilizing engineering tools such as design/modeling/analysis software and measurement/control hardware to provide human interactive solutions.
