The authors of “Earth, Humanity, and the Forest of Life” (led by Professor LEE CHANG BAE of the Department of Forestry and Environmental Systems) donated 2 million won to residents of Baebang-ri, a village near our university's academic forest in Andong, which was damaged by wildfires in March this year. The donation was presented to the village chief and residents on June 9 (Monday).
 

This donation was made voluntarily by the authors, who decided to contribute a portion of the royalties from the sale of 1,000 copies of the book to comfort the residents of Baebang-ri affected by the wildfires and to provide a small but meaningful contribution to the recovery efforts in the affected area. The donation was personally delivered to the Baebang-ri Village Hall by Professor Lee Kyung-hak and Ph.D. candidate Lee Min-gi, representing the authors.

Professor Lee Chang-bae, who planned the donation, said, “I sincerely thank all the authors who generously agreed to donate. Although it is a small amount, I hope it serves as a message of encouragement for a new beginning for the residents of Baebang-ri, who have supported the Andong Academic Forest.” Bae Bang-ri Village Chief Oh Byung-cheol said, “We are grateful that the Kookmin University Academic Forest has treated our Baebang-ri village as a community of mutual prosperity, and we will use the donation wisely to help rebuild the village.”
